Griffin as a collaborative partner of PLASTin consortium, contributed with waste management experience and insight on international waste markets.
ALL-IN for Plastics recycling, PLASTin project ended in June. PLASTin brought together a wide consortium of operators in the plastics ecosystem. The consortium consisted of industry core partners Borealis, BMH, Fortum and Kuusakoski, with own parallel project. Research institutes Arcada, LUT University, SYKE, Tampere University and VTT, were responsible for high-level scientific research. Collaborative partners Griffin, Muovipoli, Neste, Rosk’n Roll and, Suomen Uusiomuovi contributed to the project implementation. A Final report on the project has been published, summarizing the main results from the three focus areas studied: Market system and shaping, Recycling Tomorrow and Recycling of difficult plastic fractions.
Through the PLASTin project, Griffin had access to the latest research information. The workshops and research give the opportunity to learn more about plastics recycling concepts and technical solutions for the recycling of plastics. This knowledge is valuable when developing future commercial solutions for plastics recycling challengies. Dialogue with other circular economy experts and recycling experts in both research and commercial organisations, is essential for the continued development of plastic recycling.
The results achieved; the successful collaboration and the new research ideas generated during the project provide an excellent basis for the next project to promote the circularity of plastics.
